Graphic design is an applied use of art for making advertisements, brochures, letterheads and packaging. Graphic designers have jobs in advertising agencies, department stores, magazine publishing houses and movie and television studios. Some designers take on the challenge of creating a company logo or product, whereas others develop websites. Every commercial application of art in some way utilizes the skills of a graphic designer, and every day they are becoming increasingly necessary to the business community.
Special effects, layout composition and lettering are just a few of the fields revolutionized by graphic design. The Youth Visions Logo designed by Nick Castoro and Adrian Lu in this gallery is an excellent example of computer-assisted design. In order to be a successful graphic designer, one must be knowledgable of art and technology practices. If one can master this art-technology connection, fabulous graphic designs can be produced.
