Description: 2000 Map Your Week Project [Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design]. Map Your Week Project [Identity/Social Conditioning]. This ESL artist has used utilitarian (household) objects to symbolize various acts of information processing and knowledge maintenance. Examples are: a vacuum cleaner for sucking up knowledge; a pin cushion brain with post-it note goals to set priorities; an iron to smooth out wrinkles in communication; a spray bottle to spread good will and a wastebasket for discarding bad habits. As well, two objects are placed in the upper area to contrast pessimistic and optimistic dimensions of her personality - a cobweb filled with disapprobation and a Korean flag hammock providing a safe retreat for nostalgic escapism.
