Description: 2001 Spirit of Youth Mural Project. Unity Through Diversity [Gothic Revival/ Multiculturalism/Nature]. Chrysalis' iconic imagery, bold lines and brilliant colours take on a stained glass effect reminiscent of 19
th Century Gothic Revival. Chrysalis shares a common theme of unity through diversity with it's larger counterpart, Cultural Migration - the first work using modeled students and the second work using visual metaphor (butterflies and moths). A feature design element is the vertical movement from the pond to the butterflies above. This upward movement symbolizes rising through school and liberating one's aspirations. As a whole, Chrysalis is an intriguing synthesis of religious and humanist values.
